Bell Schedule 2015-2016

Mr. Brent J. DeRoestGreetings Walter J. Meyer Family!

We had another successful holiday "make and take" night with Lowe's sponsoring the school and providing the craft and tools. The craft was a fireboat, and kids from the community thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were able to take their newly made toys home.

We also had another successful Christmas program with each grade level performing a couple of songs. The kindergarteners led the program with a dress up in classroom-made Santa costumes. The seventh and eighth grade brought in their skills with sign language (thanks to the direction of Ricardo Garcia) to go along with the songs that they performed.

Walter J Meyer is excited to welcome in Irene Angelov to teach the eighth grade algebra class. Irene was at Huachuca City but has recently moved to the high school with one of her blocks scheduled for WJM. She will be planning and correlating with Sarah Paulsen to ensure that our eighth graders are excelling in math before they get to high school so that they can get ahead of the curve.

We would also like to welcome Tori Douglas to the staff as our new para educator. Tori will be working as a one-on-one aid within our special education department. We are currently in the process of hiring a second para educator in the special education department due to resignations and transfers.

The fifth/sixth graders are well into their science fair project, and we are hoping for some WJM representation at the YES fair this year. While they work to refine their projects, we will also be introducing regular practice testing sessions for the AzMERIT so that students of all grade levels are ready and familiar with the test when the time comes.

Please check out our calendar to stay up-to-date with everything we having going on!

Regards,

 Brent J. DeRoest
